When we were approached by Norfolk Fire & Rescue Service to ask if we were happy to let the emergency services access our depot for a major incident training exercise the answer was a resounding yes.
On the instruction of the Fire Officer and unbeknown to any of the local fire stations or crews the emergency button at our depot was pressed and eleven fire service vehicles, all blue lights flashing and sirens wailing, sped towards Wymondham to attend a major emergency at a large fuel depot.
On arrival they were relieved to find out it was only a drill, but the exercise did not stop there. All the attending units were given a number of potential scenarios, from spills, crashes, fires and falls to practice and resolve. Fortunately dry weather allowed the team to go through all the different drills in a very efficient manner.
The Goff CEO Tim Foster commented
“ We were delighted to be approached by the Fire Service and to be asked to make a training exercise very real. The Fire Service do a great job and if we can help them be better prepared for any incident they may face then we are of course more than happy to support them”.
